This is a home test for whether or not you have the coronavirus. The upside is fairly obvious; since you take the test yourself and mail the kit back to the lab (you get the results online) you won’t be exposed to any potentially infected person at a testing site.

PHN Explores: The novel coronavirus, a respiratory illness, is damaging kidneys at an unexpectedly high rate, according to experts. (From ProPublica)*

As the story notes, “between 14% and 30%” of Covid-19 ICU patients have kidney failure bad enough to require dialysis. This surprising number of cases is creating a shortage of both dialysis machines and the parts (filters, etc.) needed to run them.
